#Occupy L.A. About to Become an Endangered Feces

...to borrow a phrase from Gilda Radner!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Villaraigosa announces impending shutdown of Occupy L.A. camp

The City Hall park where Occupy Los Angeles protesters are camped will be closed at 12:01 a.m. Monday, according to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, triggering what officials hope will be an end to the nation's largest remaining Occupy camp.

But police might not immediately begin removing protesters who linger, the mayor said at a news conference Friday with Police Chief Charlie Beck. He said officials hope in the coming days to help protesters move their belongings and to find beds in homeless shelters for those at the camp who need them.

Health hazards, crime magnets, drugs, mental illness...these "occupy" movements are like urban street problems on steroids. It's about time the cities take back control of their populations and separate the homeless, the helpless, and the truly needy from the criminals who prey on them and the bored, spoiled brats who simply don't want to pay back what they've borrowed for their overpriced education.

#OccupyAnarchy: What Lawlessness Breeds

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Wall Street protesters in Zuccotti Park battened down the hatches yesterday as the early October snow turned their tents into igloos, but the close quarters also made easy pickings for one predator. A sex fiend barged into a woman’s tent and sexually assaulted her at around 6 a.m., said protesters, who chased him from the park.

“Pervert! Pervert! Get the f--k out!” said vigilante Occupiers, who never bothered to call the cops. “They were shining flashlights in his face and yelling at him to leave,” said a woman who called herself Leslie, but refused to give her real name.

She said that weeks earlier another woman was raped. “We don’t tell anyone,” she said. “We handle it internally. I said too much already.”

With all the free loaders, free lovers, free Mumia's, free lunchers and free thinkers populating the OccupyAnarchy movement, which many on the Left hope to be the anti-Tea Party, one gets the impression that one thing the ReOccupyTheWhiteHouse movement doesn't need is more bad press, so there seems to be a conscious effort to keep these kinds of attacks quiet and sweep them under a rug.

Granted, the Occupy movement has spawned a "volunteer" security force of dubious origin and efficacy: part mob, part vigilante justice. But they have neither police powers or training. And, rather than pursuing a sexual predator until he is caught and deterred from repeating his offense, he is merely chased off to continue his perverse felonies again, either at another "occupied" area of the park or in society at large.

First, I think this sends a bad message about the OccupyAnarchy view of women. "Ladies: Lay back and enjoy it. Women who are assaulted or raped should be seen and not heard." In a rational world (not the protesters' strong suit), how would it not benefit everyone for every woman raped or assaulted to give a statement to the police and a description of the perpetrator so that the criminal can be apprehended? Is the movement so inured and enamored of breaking whatever laws they choose, that they empathize with other lawbreakers, no matter how odious?

We have seen the Occupy Anarchists disrespect the police, one man infamously defecating on a patrol car, and attacking the police and even rioting in some places. Compare and contrast with the Tea Party rallies. There was a police presence there, but the only incidents I observed or am aware of, involving the police at a Tea Party rally, was when a small element of miscreants from the Left showed up to protest against the Tea Partiers, to shout them down, or damage property.

There were no tents, no soup lines and above all, no rapes, sexual assaults, refusals to obey police orders or assaults on police officers.

Is OccupyAnarchy the Left's version of the Tea Party? It's looking like it. Will OccupyAnarchy motivate anyone to vote Democrat next Fall? Well, I think they can count on the rapist and sexual predator vote!

VIDEO: Peter Schiff Debates Zucotti Park Occupy Wall Streeters

Crossposted at the Left Coast Rebel

This is simply just too cool. You can almost hear the collective "Occupy-I-am-entitled-to-everything-I-want-simply-because-I-have-a-pulse" synapses misfiring in the crowd as Peter Schiff engages them (poor saps have probably never even heard his viewpoint that he aptly expresses).

There are too many quotable moments from Schiff here, "WalMart doesn't hold a gun to their head" may just go down in interweb infamy:

I love how Allahpundit notes that Schiff pulls this thing off like an Austrian-school ninja.

Indeed.

More from Nick Gillespie at Reason.com:

"Did a corporation end slavery, or did the government end slavery?!?!"

That's the sort of question investment guru and radio show host Peter Schiff fielded as he debated Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protesters last week in New York's Zuccotti Park.

Schiff is no ordinary observer. As the prinicipal of the financial firm Euro Pacific Capital, he's a full-fledged and unapologetic member of "the 1 Percent." As an outspoken radio show host (listen online here) and commentator, he not only predicted the housing crash and financial crisis, he railed bank and auto-sector bailouts as they were happening. Schiff believes that capitalism offers is the only hope for young, frustrated people to have a vibrant and prosperous future (get information on his latest book, How an Economy Grows and Why it Crashes, here). So he went to Occupy Wall Street to engage and debate the protesters.

Touring the Occupy Wall Street scene in New York with a sign that read "I Am the 1%, Let's Talk," Schiff spent more than three hours on the scene, explaining the difference between cronyism and capitalism, bailouts and balance sheets, and more.

"The regulation we want is the market," said Schiff. "That's what works."

Occupy Portland Fears it has Lost up to $20,000 in Donations

What is it they say? "There's no honor among thieves!"

Organizers of Occupy Portland say they fear as much as $20,000 donated to the group through a PayPal account has disappeared. They also say the group's finance committee has hijacked the demonstration's Internet domain name and filed for incorporation against the wishes of the group's decision-making body.

Decision making body. Yeah, the "general assembly" (some assembly required). So, the individual protesters are getting their stuff ripped off around the country, some occupiers are more equal than others when it comes to "spreading the wealth", and now we have factions fighting over the name of the movement and the internet address where the goodies flow from.

It's like watching one of those Mad Max movies, except, instead of a post war apocalyptic break down of societal norms, we have a group of malcontents who were in the process of rebelling against societal norms when thieves, other criminals and the homeless started agreeing with them.

Welcome to Anarchy 101. Other than "Eat the rich" and "Forgive my student loans", there is little cohesion to these ranks of rank amateurs and ranker political noobs. If one wants to siphon off cash and another wants to take control of your Internet domain name, who's to stop them? And if the "general assembly" of Portland decides to act contrary to a decision of occupy Wall Street's general assembly, who decides who is right? These people can't even manage a bread line without drama, resentment and the type of acrimony generally reserved for Glenn Beck! The food police were even raising their own posse comitatus to chase off the vagrants and others deemed not politically pure enough to receive of the occupiers' largesse.

The longer this "movement" continues, the more fractious it will become. Will they legislate their own rules? Adjudicate their own laws? Enforce their own punishments?

Good luck with that! Anger against the unfair treatment and injustice from the establishment will be replaced with anger against the unfair treatment and injustice from the leaders of the movement. The hardcore homeless and the charlatans gaming the system will stay. Eventually, I think the majority will realize that it is easier to reform the old system than to build a new one from scratch.

Occupy Wall Street Kitchen Staff Protesting Fixing Food for Freeloaders

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
No soup for you!

Irony (and hypocrisy) Alert! It's getting harder to tell the homeless drifters and grifters apart from the whiny yuppie protesters!

The Occupy Wall Street volunteer kitchen staff
launched a “counter” revolution yesterday -- because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters.

For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.

"Organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad..." This is the idea of "roughing it" among the 99% who have it tough?? And then to think that common people who are merely homeless or maybe just released from jail might consider themselves as part of the 99% who are not the country's wealthiest individuals...where on earth would they get that idea?

As the kitchen workers met with the "General Assembly" last night, about 300 demonstrators stormed from the park to Reade Street and Broadway, where they violently clashed with cops

The "General Assembly"? Who do these guys think they are? The U freakin' N??? Already elements of #OccupyMom'sBasement are coming apart at the seams. How do you equally distribute, (share the wealth, if you will), all the money donated by Soros and others to keep Obama@OccupyWhiteHouse afloat? Why does one group get to watch movies on a "huge flat screen TV" purchased with the community's cash, while others scrounge for quarters to do tons of wet laundry? And now, poachers in the food lines.

The bourgeois roots of the Occupy Wall Street mobocracy are nowhere more apparent than here. Yes, they carry their iphones and laptops down to the protest against the mean and evil corporations, except for the ones they can't live without, and they sit in front of the banks that loaned them the money to get their Ivy League educations, like the ingrates you'd expect them to be. But as much as they like to say they represent 99% of the country, just make sure they're PLU (people like us). Why is that? Is not the homeless guy part of the 99%? Does he get a vote in how the "community's" money is spent? If not, then, why not?

Organizers took other steps to police the squatters, who they said were lured in from other parks with the promise of free meals. A team of 10 security volunteers moved in to the trouble-prone southwest section of Zuccotti Park in a show of force to confront them. “We’re not going to let some members of this community destroy the whole movement,” a volunteer said.

Hey! Here's a thought...why not issue a photo ID??? More than a faint whiff of hypocrisy (masked, no doubt by a myriad of other more unpleasant odors) at #Occupy Wall Street, et. al.

I think this guy is for real. It almost seems like a parody. If I'd seen this on SNL, I wouldn't have been surprised (or more amused).

I guess venting is cheaper than therapy, so let him vent. I could sell tickets to his attempts to arrest every policeman in Oakland, and I'd have enough money to join the "1%". That would be entertaining!

Occupy This! Redux

Remember when Occupy Wall Street showed up as a "spontaneous" movement around six weeks ago? We know it was spontaneous because they kept telling us it was. While I was checking out Cindy Sheehan's participation in the current Occupy Sacramento, I came across several references to "Occupy Sacramento"...from last May.

May 2, 2011
Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,

Over the last 24 hours global attention has been monopolized by a certain event, but our work in California goes on. We aim to occupy the State Capitol beginning May 9, 2011, and seek to sustain that occupation as long as possible.

Peace Activist Cindy Sheehan Turns Attention To Capitol
Sheehan To Be Part Of Capitol 'Occupation'

May 5, 2011

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Noted peace activist Cindy Sheehan said Thursday she's "willing to be arrested" as part of a large protest planned for next week at the state Capitol.

"I've never been arrested in California before," Sheehan said.

A number of possibilities come to mind. One, the Left is simply plagued with trite, tired and unimaginative sloganeering.

Two, when all you have is a hammer, the whole world's a nail. The Left has a one size fits all approach to every problem. Sit ins and protests from Wisconsin to Wall Street to West Sacramento.

Three, the Left has been planning their "spontaneous" protests for months.

Four, George Soros and the Wall Street bunch just ripped Cindy off for the name. My experience with Lefties is that quite a number of them are immune to giving attribution for whatever intellectual property they may "borrow".

As of now, my money's on one and two.

Corporations, Occupy Wall Street and Sweet Irony

by guest blogger Andrew Roman

-----------------------
Here’s a fact: American corporations –whether run by people with left leaning views (Ben And Jerry’s) or right-leaning views (Home Depot) – cannot show up at your front door and take away your constitutional rights. They cannot crush your liberties, confiscate your property, incarcerate you, threaten you or make you do anything you don’t want to.

That’s what government is for.

Corporations cannot, for instance, intimidate private property owners by saying there will be hell to pay if those owners decide they might like to tidy up their own properties currently being occupied by whiny, spoiled-brat, soulless, narcissistic, bottom-feeder scumbag protesters in Che Guevara t-shirts and grey-haired pony-tail types in dull tie-dyes.

That’s what New York City elected officials are for.

Here’s another fact, as pointed out by Dennis Prager on his radio program yesterday: History has shown, unequivocally, that anti-rich movements – no matter where they may they have occurred in this world, say, over the past hundred years or so (and well beyond that) - have resulted in nothing positive for the poor. Absolutely nothing.

When, asks Prager, has blaming the rich ever helped the poor?

It should be noted that these “down with the rich” movements have resulted in multiple instances of dictatorship and genocide (see Communism).

If someone could please cite the instance (or instances) when a society has thrived after a capitalist system has been removed, I would be most appreciative.

Just asking.

We constantly hear from these protesters and their supporters how the country is being taken over by corporations, but are never told how exactly this is happening.

What does that mean exactly?

How is America being “taken over” by corporations?

In what way?

I'd love someone to explain it to me.

And isn’t it funny how for all their griping about corporate-this and greedy Capitalists-that, these aimless unwashed, selfish parasites always seem to gravitate toward these evil centers of capitalism – bright lights, high-energy, hustle-and-bustle – places that were built by free markets? New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles – these are not exactly granola-crunching back-to-basics communes.

These are supply-and-demand epicenters.

As Rush Limbaugh pointed out last week, there were more people waiting on line for the new iPhone in Manhattan than there were protesting the "corporate fat cats" poised to make profits off of them.

City after city across the country – with their coffee bars, music shops, universities, parks, hookah joints – are swarming with express-yourself-any-damn-way-you-want artistic-types. These people don't exactly live in tent villas in the outskirts of these cities roasting pine cones, bathing in the creeks. Musicians, poets, activists, actors, political morons, university-brainwashed drones - they continue to flock to these places that would not exist if not for capitalism.

It’s where the electricity and Mac Books are.

That the current financial woes were not – repeat not – set off by the all-encompassing, generic boogie-man “Wall Street,” but rather by an ever-growing, ever-intrusive, finger-in-the-pie federal government, seems to be irrelevant to the excrement living on the streets of New York (and elsewhere).

Where is the Occupy Rich Rap Stars movement?

Or the Occupy George Soros movement?

Or the Occupy the Union Fat Cats movement?

Or – dare I say it – the Occupy Oprah movement?

In reality, there is no real clear objective or purpose in these Occupy Everything movements. There is nothing unifying these protesters except hatred for this country and its institutions. These are intellectually illiterate radicals, acting purely on emotion. They are incoherent, disarranged misfits hell-bent on making others suffer with them. Whenever they are asked what their purpose is, they recycle vague bumper sticker twaddle, without a clue as to what they are saying or why they are saying it.

It just sounds good.

They are jealous, angry malcontents demanding things from everyone else, never considering what they might be able to give of themselves to improve whatever conditions they're protesting. The irony is that these squawking drones have been programmed to do exactly what they accuse “Wall Street” of doing – namely, get whatever they can get from everyone else at any cost. They are programmed to ask for - and expect - something for nothing. By virtue of their existences, they are entitled. They measure worth only in how things affect them personally.

Indeed, while they stand tall about taking from those who have (i.e., distributing other people’s wealth), they say they may have to get tough now that thieves are infiltrating their “camp” in lower Manhattan and stealing their stuff.

Sweet irony.

One gal complained that someone stole her expensive laptop.

“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

Crafty cat burglars sneaked into the makeshift kitchen at Zuccotti Park overnight and swiped as much as $2,500 in donated greenbacks from right under the noses of volunteers who’d fallen asleep after a long day whipping up meals for the hundreds of hungry protesters, the volunteers said.

“The worst thing is there’s people sleeping in the kitchen when they come, and they don’t even know about it! There are some really smart and sneaky thieves here,” Terrie said.

“I had umbrellas stolen, a fold-up bed I brought because my back is bad -- they took that, too!”
Security volunteer Harry Wyman, 22, of Brooklyn was furious about the thievery -- and vowed to get tough with the predatory perps.

“I’m not getting paid, but I’m not gonna stand for it. Why people got to come here and do stupid stuff? All it does is make people not wanna come here anymore,” Wyman fumed.

Getting tough? Not going to stand for it? Stupid stuff?

I'm trying not to laugh.

How in the world can anyone associated with these protesters be taken seriously when they complain about the lack of civility taking place down there? Are they serious? Is it any less civil than sleeping, defecating and urinating in a public setting? Is it any less civil than disrupting the lives of everyone else who live and work in the area? Is it any less civil than going into privately owned establishments and causing disruptions to the point where the police are needed to remove them? Is it any less civil than their selfish disregard for the ever-escalating costs to the taxpayers? Is it any less civil than the profanities being lodged at people trying to go about their business, the anti Semetic signs been waved, and the public displays of sex?

Yes, irony, thy name is Occupy Wall Street.

Besides, why would anyone occupying Wall Street care if a laptop was stolen? Or money? Or anything?

Perhaps their call for the redistribution of wealth is selective.

Cindy Sheehan Occupies Sacramento

...with plans on getting arrested at midnight tonight.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Somehow believing her fifteen minutes of fame is not up yet*, Cindy Sheehan arrived in Sacramento to try to give her otherwise meaningless life some kind of meaning while she milks the crowd for as much attention as she can get.

Back in May of this year, she was protesting here, too.

Noted peace activist Cindy Sheehan said Thursday she's "willing to be arrested" as part of a large protest planned for next week at the state Capitol. "I've never been arrested in California before," Sheehan said.

And in case she's still waiting for that first California arrest, she plans on staying in Cesar Chavez park past the midnight curfew.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- "Occupy Sacramento" expects more than 1,000 people Saturday to march to the Capitol and the downtown area.

Arrests are expected in the evening.

Organizers have been urging people to protest across the globe and across the country. Sacramento is just one of many cities joining the movement Saturday.

Anti-war mom Cindy Sheehan will speak at 2 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Park.

*Attention nit pickers (or knit pickers): one could say "are up", but since "fifteen minutes of fame" is commonly considered as a singular phenomenon, either is correct. You may now fixate on that to the exclusion of everything else I wrote.

"I saw him sticking his legs under the bike to make it appear he was run over"

First thing, note the very first sound you hear on the video is the officer's horn as he tries to make his way through the crowd. Here's an experiment for you liberals: Stand in the street and ignore any horns you hear, no matter how close you think they might be. (I direct this experiment at liberals, because most conservatives already know the answer to this one!)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
screen shot 1

Second, it appears in one frame that the man vying for the Occupy Academy Award has his feet in front of the scooter's front wheel. The officer's foot is on the ground. The man is on the ground screaming. The video is obscured by the crowd and then we see the man on the ground, screaming with his foot in front of the rear tire, and we have an eyewitness who said, "I saw him sticking his legs under the bike to make it appear he was run over".

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
screen shot 2

Note too, when the bike stops, it rocks the tiniest bit forward, as the shocks absorb what's left of the scooter's slow speed forward motion. It seems to me, that if the scooter had run over anything as large as the supposed victim's foot or leg, there would have been some residual up and down motion on the shocks as one sees when driving over a speed bump or pothole.

And third, this guy was a lawyer. I wonder if his specialty is "slip and fall"?

I've seen better acting in the NBA when a player is trying to draw a foul.

Update: From another account:
Wrenching screams can be heard before Ari Douglas, a legal observer from the National Lawyers Guild, is seen on the street with his left foot wedged under the front wheel of the scooter near Maiden Lane.

A few frames later, Douglas is seen thrashing on the ground and screaming with his right foot pinned beneath the scooter's back wheel.

Occupy Boston Protesters Spit on Woman in Uniform

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) - The Coast Guard in Boston confirmed that a woman in uniform was harassed and spat upon near Occupy Boston protesters.

The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her.

Protester Dies at Occupy San Diego

San Diego - Breaking news. It appears that a protester attempting to hang a sign from an eight story parking garage has fallen to his death.

A man in his mid-40s fell or jumped to his death Monday afternoon from the eight-story parking structure adjacent to San Diego City Hall, police said.

Police are investigating initial reports that the man may have been attempting to hang a banner in support of the Occupy San Diego movement about 3 p.m.

Several hundred protesters are camped out in the plaza adjacent to City Hall and the parking structure.

Update : This is now being reported as an apparent suicide.

A witness told police that the man was possibly hanging a sign off the parking structure when he fell several stories and landed in the concourse area near Golden Hall about 3:15 p.m., police said.

Police determined that the man was not hanging signs, although fliers were found near the body that read: “Important message to intelligent earthlings from your creators.”

Occupy Muffin Tops!

Doug Ross has some great pictures of the Occupy Anarchy mob. One in particular caught my eye:

Does that "muffin top" suggest that no one in this rally is really going hungry, or is he implying that she is some kind of "banker"? (Might have eaten Warren Buffett!)

American Spectator's Patrick Howley Infiltrates Occupy Anarchy DC

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A leftist blogger over at Fire Dog Lake, accuses Patrick Howley of being an "agent provocateur" at the storming the Smithsonian event. From Howley's own account, that doesn't seem to be the case:

The fastest-running protesters charged up the steps of Washington's National Air and Space Museum Saturday afternoon to infiltrate the building and hang banners on the "shameful" exhibits promoting American imperialism. As the white-uniformed security guards hurried to physically block the entrances, only a select few -- myself, for journalistic purposes, included -- kept charging forward.

Roughly one hundred protesters marched on the Air and Space Museum Saturday, following a planned assembly held the night before in Freedom Plaza. At that assembly, the "Action Committee" for the protest movement organized by October2011.com suggested storming the museum in order to state their opposition to American militarism, which they perceive as a root cause of the federal deficit. The marchers started out in the early afternoon, and after a roughly half-hour parade through the streets of D.C. they reached their target. As the museum doors approached, all of a sudden liberal shoes started marching less forcefully, and the crowd split into two factions -- those rushing the doors, and those staying behind.

So, he didn't provoke them to storm the museum, and it sounds like he was caught up in some of the pushing and pepperspraying, but nothing suggests that he was instigating it, other than some disgruntled leftie saying "Conservatives made us do it!"

Sounds much like a tempest in a(n unwashed) teacup.

Occupy Anarchy Mob Tries to Storm Air and Space Museum

When I first heard that a mob was attempting to take their protest inside the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, my first reaction was , "Oh, hell no!" I jokingly referred to this mob "storming the Bastille" the other day. From this, I can see it wasn't a joke.

What, pray tell, is the purpose of holding a demonstration inside a museum? If there is something inside they do not like, they are free to demonstrate outside the museum. Why go indoors? So that fewer people can see you?

I suspect that there are more than a few Neo-Luddites in the green weenie/liberal/whackadoo Occupy Anarchy mob. The Air and Space Museum is the crown jewel of American technological achievement. How is whatever they they are protesting of the present economic/political crisis related to the history of air travel and space flight in the US?

Mindlessly chanting "the whole world is watching", when what they are watching is a lawless, unruly, uncivilized mob, attempting to violate the rules of the museum and roughing up anyone who gets in their way is highly counter productive to their cause, whatever that might be. (Some, apparently still haven't figured it out yet!)

As this "movement" progresses (pun intended), we see more and more examples of uncivilized behavior: illegally camping in public parks, refusing to obey the orders of police officers, defecating in public, spraying graffiti on police cars, assaulting people and leaving horrendous mounds of trash* behind them everywhere they go, these people are the antithesis of the Tea Party. If the liberal left and their "Tea Party envy" causes them to embrace these malcontents as the mainstream and motivation for their political party, in lieu of actual ideas to turn the economy around, then more power to them! Everyday Americans will reject this mob mentality, no matter how many "extras" are hired to make the crowds look bigger.

*Isn't it funny how the Mother Gaia, "love the Earth" progressieve crowd seems to be characterized by leaving whatever space they protest (or celebrate) looking like a fifties era landfill?

What Do Ron Paul and Occupy Wall Street Have in Common?

Ron Paul wins Values Voter Summit straw poll
GOP presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul took first in a presidential straw poll Saturday at the 2011 Values Voter Summit, an annual conference of social conservatives by the Family Research Council.

Paul won handily with 37 percent of the vote — a regular occurrence for Paul, whose supporters often flood straw polls for him. Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain came in second with 23 percent, while Rick Santorum came in third with 16 percent at the weekend summit.

As far as I can tell, Ron Paul is an honest man. Which is why it is somewhat surprising that some of his followers are, shall we say, less than scrupulous when it comes to Internet polls for their candidate? Let's face it. I believe that most of us have seen poll after poll that Ron Paul "won", that in no way reflected the reality of actual support he could count on on election day. I watched one debate back in 2008*, where Paul was the only candidate sounded booed by the studio audience during the debate, who supposedly "won" the internet poll on who won the debate by a large margin.

So, why are they stuffing the ballot box on Internet polls if it doesn't translate to electoral votes? I believe their motive is to make the support for their candidate appear larger than it really is, in hope of growing that support through the "bandwagon" effect. That is to say, one sees a large number of people doing something (or supporting someone) and in seeking to conform to the group, they "jump on the bandwagon" to go the same direction they believe everyone else is headed in.

So, how does this tie a small group of computer literate Paul supporters to the dirty hippies protesting in the streets of New York and elsewhere? People trying to make the movement appear larger than it actually is.

A liberal organizer told the Daily Caller on Thursday afternoon that he paid some Hispanics to attend “Occupy DC” protests happening in the nation’s capital.

...TheDC asked that organizer whether he was paying the group to attend the protest, and he conceded that some protesters “aren’t” volunteers.

“Some of them are volunteers. Some of them aren’t,” he explained. “I can’t identify them. I’m not going to get into an identification game.”

Rather than inflating poll numbers, Occupy Wall Streeters are inflating the number of people "spontaneously" showing up to protest with what we used to call "rent-a-mobs". Even many of the protesters who weren't paid really had no idea why they were there. Even one organizer in Sacramento said he was waiting for his "message team" to get back to him as to what they were really protesting.

The Tea party rallies I have attended didn't need to rely on rent a mobs for their numbers. Instead of paying people to attend, many of us shelled out money from our own pockets to attend. I flew to Vegas at my own expense to catch the 2009 Tea Party Patriot rally which kicked off the cross country bus tour. And I guarantee you that every one there who had a sign or a flag, knew exactly what it meant.

They didn't need that much in the way of a police presence to control the crowds either, because the crowds were not out of control. No one took a dump on a police cruiser, nor would it have ever occurred to anyone there, either!

If you are zealous for some cause or candidate, that's not a bad thing. Whenever you have to lie or exaggerate the support for your cause or candidate, it is a tacit admission that either he or it is not as great as you make it out to be.

Update : Values Voter straw poll organizers suggest a fix in Ron Paul's win

Rep. Ron Paul scored a decisive victory Saturday in a mock presidential election at the Values Voter Summit, trouncing fellow Texan, Gov. Rick Perry, but an organizer of the straw poll suggested ballot-stuffing may have skewed the results.

In a press conference following the announcement of the straw poll results at the annual Washington gathering of social conservatives, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins all but dismissed the results as irrelevant, citing 600 people who registered Saturday morning and, he said, "left after Ron Paul spoke."

A total of 1,983 ballots were cast. "You do the math," Perkins said.
