Naomi Wants Ethnic Models!

Internationally known supermodel Naomi Campbell addressed the crowd and the fashion designers during a news conference at Berlin Fashion Week.

"Fashion Week New York may start by the end of the week, I hope that all the designers will consider using models of colour. Because as we have seen in the last two years, models of colour have not been used on the runways or just in a minute way. So let's hope that everyone could also let fashion not discriminate the models and the colour of the models that they use."

Shoking Proof: The Real Reason Why You're Fat!

"The Reason You Can't Lose Weight has Nothing to Do With Your Will-Power, Over-Eating or the Right Diet! ... The Reason You are Fat and Unhealthy is Because You Have Disgusting Plaque and Horrible Little 'CRITTERS' Living in Your Guts!"

"...And Now I'm Going to Show You How to Get Rid of All of It so You Can Shed 10 lbs, 25 lbs, 50 lbs even 100 lbs or more - and Keep It Off FOREVER!!"

Ask yourself ...

Do you really want all this junk living inside your guts?

This is harmful Plaque (below) - Everybody has it. But to keep from getting sick and to be able to maintain a healthy body weight you MUST get rid of it now!

If you don't, it will eventually cause you to not be able to lose weight (regardless of how much you diet and exercise!) and eventually it will kill you!

These are harmful Parasites (below) - Everybody has them. If left to live and breed inside your stomach, small and large intestines and colon, they will eventually cause you to puff up, gain lots of weight, get sick more often, and take many, many years off your life!

They use your body as a 'Food Storehouse' and so they can live and breed by the millions. But now it's time to flush them out and down the toilet for good. If you don't they will just make you fatter and much, much sicker!

Would you trust anything living in your bowels that has teeth but NO eyes?

Nail Care For Men

Boys do look at girls' nail. It is a big turn off if they saw the girl's toes with not so decent toe nails. But wait, girls look at boys' nails too! It is as much as important for girls to see that boys pay attention to their nails too. Bottom line is: nail care is part of good grooming! However, most boys will just have their nails trimmed and that's it! Their on the go! Because for them they only use their nails for three all-purpose activities: scratching, typing, and picking...uhm¡¦just picking!Anyhow, boys don't need fancy nails for such simple finger fare. In fact, shredded cuticles seem to improve the overall male scratching experience. So why fix what ain't broke? Because you have to keep them healthy and good-looking.It's just so easy. You don't have to spend that much in nail care salons and pamper with expensive hand spa. All you need is roughly $2. And it's good for how long? 3 or 4 months?! You spend less with equal results. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3.

It is essential and stops nail from breaking or splitting and makes them look better, so file them all to the same length. Start your manicure by trimming your nail with the scissors or clippers. As a general grooming rule, nail shouldn't be more than one-eighth of an inch or 3.175 millimeters in length. Trim only the tips of your nail and not the sides, or you risk hangnail hell. When you're done, your nail should be flat-topped.

Use the emery board to round the corners of your nail and file them down to a comfortable length. Then switch to the three-way nail buffer.

Use nail file to smooth away nail ridges and irregularities. A three-way nail file is a sturdy, rectangular block of foam that has been coated with one polishing surface and two grades of abrasive: typically, fine grit and very fine grit. Each surface is marked and color-coded for easy identification. Nail file also come in four-way (three abrasive surfaces) and six-way (five abrasive surfaces) models.

Use the fine grit surface to buff across the nail from side to side with gentle, even strokes. Leave the deepest of the ridges or you'll buff away the entire nail.

Next, gently buff with the fine grit surface for a soft, matte luster. Again, buff from side to side and don't use too much muscle. A few gentle but rapid strokes with the polishing surface, at the end, will create an attractive glossy finish.
Do once a week this will increase the circulation and oxygen in the nails. Do for about two minutes each session and be careful to apply firm pressure but don't be to hard, which can damage the nail.

Cuticle is the outermost layer of skin that protrudes a short way above the nail surface. It is attached to the nail. When the nail grows, the cuticle often becomes distended, at which point it dries and shreds.
Damaged cuticles should never be removed. Cuticles are barriers that keep the nail fungus from entering the body between the nail and skin. They should also not be allowed to overgrow, since this retards nail growth.Instead, cuticles should be "pushed back." To do this, apply a few drops of cuticle oil along the crescent-shaped edge at the bottom of each nail, where the cuticle and nail connect. Let the oil sit for a minute or two to soften the cuticle. Then use a cotton ball to firmly push the cuticle back, in the direction of your uppermost finger joint. Snip away any errant pieces of dead skin with your nail clipper, and you're done.
You can push back your cuticles every day, between weekly trimming and buffing. That should keep your home manicure in excellent repair from day to day ? and your social agenda on track during those in-between hours.

Through our nails, we would know what vitamin deficiency we have. If you have any of the following then you need to change your diet. You have to nourish nails from within.
  • Lack of vitamin A and calcium indicates dryness and brittleness.
  • Lack of protein, folic acid and vitamin C causes hang nails.
  • White bands across the nails mean a protein deficiency.
  • A lack of sufficient hydrochloric acid can cause splitting nails.
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to dryness, very rounded and curved ends or darkeningof nails.
  • Zinc deficiency can cause white spots on the nails.
  • Red skin around cuticles indicates poor metabolism of essential fatty acids.

Breast Checks!

Women's breasts change in size and how they feel due to menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and weight gain or loss. All women should be aware of how their breasts feel. Generally, changes in a breast are normal, but occasional changes can be found which can be the early signs of breast cancer.

Most lumps or changes are not caused by cancer. Any changes that you find in your breasts should always be checked by a doctor. Early detection of breast cancer is the key to successful treatment and survival.

You can go to see a doctor to have a routine breast check done, but it may also be worthwhile to do regular checks of your breasts yourself. Other ways that breast cancer can be found include regular mammograms (x-ray examinations, which are usually only done when a woman is over 40 years old) and ultrasound examinations.

REMEMBER: According to doctors, women with oversized breast and women with undersized breast size are most prone to cyst, which can be cancerous.

How to do a check:

  • Feel each breast from the collarbone at the top to the bra-line at the bottom, and from midway between your breasts to an imaginary line down from the middle of your armpit.
  • When you are feeling your breasts, use the flat part of your fingers including the sensitive finger pads. Move your fingers in small circles at every spot you touch.
  • Start from your armpit and work up and down in vertical strips across your whole breast. The time this will take will depend on your breast size.
  • You should use two different levels of pressure, both light and firm.
  • To feel lightly, put your fingers together and flat and make the first circle with light pressure, firm enough just to make a slight dent in the skin. This will enable you to feel anything just below the surface.
  • At the same spot make a second circle pressing quite firmly so that you can feel any deep lumps in your breast. Press as firmly as you can without any discomfort.

Feel or look for :
The following changes may not be due to breast cancer, but it is important that you see your doctor straight away if you find any of these changes.

  • a breast lump
  • a skin rash or itching
  • changes in the color of the skin
  • puckering, roughness or dimpling of the skin
  • retraction (pulling in) of the nipple
  • discharge or leaking from the nipple
  • pain anywhere in the breast
  • any change from the usual look of either breast
  • swelling or discomfort in the armpit.

Excellent! Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2007!

Always creative and amazing fashion show. The sets were superb, ranging from futuristic night clubs to a water fountain in a European province. But the costumes and lingerie were more extravagant as ever. It was more personal this year with some of the fashion model from different countries with little videos about themselves. Very Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. You got to know them, where they came from, their lives and some of the causes that they support.

Every year they have stand-ins so that the production staff can figure out their camera angles and such. Since the release of the pink line they decided to do something different. They had aspiring young fashion model from around the country come in and act as those stand-ins. For the lucky girl with the best walk, she was able to participate in the show and she was amazing, even giving a wink at the end.

It was especially louder in the audience this year as they had a lot of young teens amongst celebrities like Jeremy Piven, Eva Longoria, Ryan Seacrest, Neil Patrick Harris to name a few. The fashion model were much more interactive this year trying to gage the audience but still maintaining their poise at the end of the runway. Blowing kisses at the fans and doing their signature looks in their close-up shots at the end of the runway. What I love about Victoria Secret fashion model besides being the top models of the world is that they always know exactly what to do on camera, always conscious of their surroundings and whereabouts and there is never an awkward angle or odd pose, so effortless.

Once again Victoria Secret Fashion Show did not fail to deliver on their guests Will.I.Am, Seal and a duet with his wife, Heidi Klum (Yes, they debuted their duet with a kiss at the end, to the screaming crowd) and ofcourse the Spice Girls brought the show alive. The music is always fresh and mixed well and the girls no exactly how to move.

I love the backstage filming, the P.A.s and all of the assistants all around, you can see everything going on in front on the stage and in the back. You get to be part of whats going on backstage which is always crazy and fun. It allows you to see how you can be composed and perform on stage and serious and fast backstage with the directors giving directions and cues that they give to the fashion models and staff.

Highlights:

  • Video clips of the models
  • A segment in the middle had the models starting on a revolving circle that had the girls dancing on it before it reached the runway for them to walk on it.
  • Spice Girls - I got goosebumps when they lip-synced, i can't believe their back. Singing STOP brought back so many childhood memories. (I loved how they kept showing the models backstage dancing and making complete fun of themselves)
  • Selita wearing the million dollar bra(The highlight every year)
  • Alessandra - She is the new Giselle, she owned this show next to Heidi. Heidi as an ornament at the end of the show was amazing.
  • The last model always has the most amazing winged costume. Hedi Klum of course got that honor.
  • The final tableau was amazing. There was a huge Christmas tree in the back that had all of the other models on it when it turned around. What a fantastic finale.

A Banana a Day keeps the Doctor Away!

Surely, you are familiar with a quote that says: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". I don't who created such line. Why an apple? Is it just because it sounds better than strawberry, mango or orange? I guess so, because knowing what a single banana could do to our body, you agree if I say: "A banana a day, keeps the doctor away! After reading this article, you won't be looking at banana in the same way again.A certain post authored by Lula Vecchi, from the internet has given me enough interest about bananas. Personally, I hate bananas. However, after reading this, I had banana during my lunch right away. She said:Bananas which contain three natural sugars (sucrose, fructose and glucose) and fiber give an instant, sustained, and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous, 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Reducing Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. PMS: Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: Two-hundred students at a Twickenham (Middlesex, UK) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood-sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito Bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at Work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood-sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every 2 hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature Control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer, tryptophan. Smoking Cessation: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6 and B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress Relief: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. They can be re-balanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Stroke Risk: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Wart Removal: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

Splinter Removal: For those hard-to-remove wood splinters, rather than poking and prodding with tweezer and needle, take a small piece of banana skin, large enough to cover the splinter wholly, yellow side out, and carefully tape it over the splinter with a band-aid or tape. Overnight the banana and its enzymes will work the splinter out, dissolving it and sealing the wound. So in the morning, when you remove the band-aid, the pad will be yucky brown mush and no more splinter!

CONCLUSION: So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around! So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say: "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

SLU geriatrician shares secrets of staying young.

Eat chocolate, drink wine, add fun to life!

Little lifestyle changes can pay big dividends to aging baby boomers who want to stay vibrant, says John Morley, M.D., director of the division of geriatric medicine at Saint Louis University, in a new book that outlines a 10-step program to improve quality of life as we age.

“Living well and feeling good enough to do whatever you want to do throughout your lifetime is priceless,” says Morley, who is coauthor of “The Science of Staying Young.”

“I suggest little changes that involve good eating, such as including dark chocolate in your diet, drinking wine, socializing and adding simple exercises that anyone can do. It’s more fun than most people think. Being proactive about living well and feeling better for the rest of your life, regardless of your current chronological age, doesn’t have to be a chore.”

Morley, who co-directs Saint Louis University’s Center for Aging Successfully, pushes those who want to stay young to add a little SPF – spontaneous physical fun -- to their lives.

He advocates fidgeting in your office chair to burn calories, spending time walking from your car to the mall rather than driving to find a close parking space, working in your garden, taking the stairs instead of the elevator or going dancing once a week.

“Spontaneous physical fun is such a logical thing, and so appealing,” he says.

Morley and coauthor Sheri Colberg, Ph.D., an exercise physiologist and professor of exercise science at Old Dominion University in Virginia, are clear that their book is not a guide to living longer. Rather it is a passport to living better, packed with practical tips to stay young, healthy and vital.

"We both fervently believe that enjoying life is far more important than adding years, particularly if those additional years are spent in poor health,” Morley says.

“Quality of life is more important than quantity of days. Do you want to have more energy, be healthier, feel mentally sharper and rev up your sex drive? All of these are quality questions.”

In his book, Morley blends advice for living better with a prescription to detect medical problems early, when they are most easily treated. “It’s all about being proactive. Boomers like to ask questions, and we’re giving some answers so they can take control of their lives,” he says.

The book breaks the science of staying young into 10 steps.

“The process of getting older, although inevitable, can be a difficult one, both physically and mentally,” Morley says. “But take heart, because you can do many things to keep yourself feeling and looking younger than you really are.”
